Box Tops For Education Bet you didn’t know that Franklin can earn money from all those boxes of General Mills cereal your family consumes. This committee collects and redeems the box tops and receives a check from General Mills for the school. We can collect up to $20,000 a year! For more info on easy ways to support the school, check out www.boxtops4education.com. Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed to help cut and count Box Tops at the end of each month.

Cell Phone and Inkjet Cartridges Save and bring in your empty inkjet printer cartridges and old cell phones to the collection box across from the main office at Franklin – they have value! The school earns $2.25 for each inkjet cartridge or cell phone accepted, resulting in 100% profit for Franklin school.
Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed to help package up and send inkjet printer cartridges and old cell phones on a periodic basis. Packing materials supplied.

Family Portrait Day Have you been meaning to have a professional portrait taken of your children or your whole family? Our school photographer, Hayward Studios, makes it possible for us to conveniently have our photos taken in a beautiful outdoor setting in Newton while giving to the PTO. Hayward donates the full sitting fees and portions of printing costs to the PTO. This committee simply facilitates scheduling and confirming the location. Depending on interest, this fundraiser may occur annually or biannually. Volunteer Needs:Volunteers may help on the Saturday of the event to greet people at the site and get them signed in.

Garden City Kindergarten Soccer GCKS provides a great introduction to the game of soccer, teaching a variety of basic skills in a fun, non- competitive environment. We have two programs, a K Soccer league for children enrolled in Kindergarten and a Pre-K Soccer league for children 4 to 5 years old. GCKS is a joint venture of Franklin and Lincoln-Eliot School's PTOs, and welcomes players from all over Newton.
Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed to organize the fall and spring leagues, and to serve as parent coaches. No coaching experience is necessary and training will be provided.
Committee Chair: Deb Rooney

Innisbrook Gift Wrap Folks just can’t get enough of this fabulous gift wrap and holiday gifts sales event which kicks off this year in September. One of our most important fundraisers, it raises over $10,000 for Franklin School each year. It’s a great way to volunteer to be a part of Franklin’s terrific fundraising program. Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed in early fall to collect order forms and in November to help distribute completed orders of wrapping paper in the gymnasium.
Committee Chairs: Ellen Bradley, co-chair needed!

Library Gift Book Program There is truly no gift better than a book given to Franklin’s library to honor your child or his/her teacher or favorite specialist. Come help raise funds for the Franklin School library and to enhance the selection of books available. Volunteer Needs: Additional volunteers are needed to organize the program and prepare the books for the Franklin School Library.

Scholastic Book Fairs – Fall and Spring Stock up on new books in time for holiday giving and summer reading! Featuring both children’s and grown-up books, the Book Fairs are a great way to purchase gifts for family and friends and to establish your own personal library! Volunteers help set up, arrange and assist at the Book Fairs. The great thing is that a portion of sales go towards Franklin School. Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed to work as "cashiers" and processors of book sales during the fall and/or spring book fairs.

Tag SaleThere’s no better win-win than clearing out your old stuff and finding new space in your home, all while contributing to your School. Held one Saturday in late spring, the Tag Sale attracts neighbors and friends to buy our gently used baby equipment, toys, books and house wares. Volunteer Needs: Volunteers help to publicize the event. At the Tag Sale, volunteers are needed to price and display items for sales and to assist buyers.

Technology Fundraising Drive Newton Public Schools has determined that it is up to each Newton school to raise the funds necessary to purchase and upgrade computer stations and other technology in our classrooms. Franklin successfully outfitted the school two years ago with a fund drive that raised $30,000. Current needs now include new equipment for new classrooms, and upgrades to existing computers. Volunteer Needs: The committee chair will work with Elizabeth Matera to support needs identified by the school. Volunteers help implement dedicated fundraisers when needed.
