Debbie Miller
Debbie Miller is an Alaskan author of children's (and adult!) boooks. In this program, the children will first experience a slide show of the beauty of Alaska and its wildlife, and then view materials made by Alaska Natives, bones and antlers from Alaskan wlidlife, and Alaskan artifacts. The author will discuss how a nature writer researches and writes in Alaska and will demonstrate the different stages of book production. She also discusses the effects of global warming on the habitats of polar bears and other animals. Her books include Are Trees Alive, Arctic Lights, Arctic Nights, The Polar Bear Journey, The River of Life, The Disappearing Lake, and The Great Serum Race: Blazing the Iditarod Trail.
