The Constitution of the United States
A Grade Five Social Studies Unit
This presentation to the class introduces the Preamble and Articles 1-3 of the U.S. Constitution. With an accompanying worksheet, it directs the students to further explore and explain the structure of our government established by this document.
As a multimedia presentation with connectivity to the internet, the students may access the website “Ben’s Guide to the U.S. Government for Kids” where Ben Franklin aids them in exploring the U.S. Government in terms appropriate for their grade level. By working together in groups as they maneuver through this site, the students gain a deeper understanding of the subject and acquire vocabulary and internet research skills beyond what they would achieve on their own.
