“We’ve done this unit in the past with typical book research and writing tools. This year was the first year we’ve integrated reading groups, writing workshops, and technology into the science unit. It is clear that the excitement brought to the learning by first-hand observation with the proscopes and sharing the final project with family created for the students a deeper understanding of the subject matter and greater retention as time passed. The children were blown away in a way that never has happened with traditional methods of teaching this unit.”
