Families Organizing for Racial Justice (FORJ)
Committee Chairs: Siobhan Crosby and Jackie Savage-Borne
FORJ Franklin is a part of network of Newtonians committed to anti-racism. We are all partners in improving awareness and the lived experience around diversity, equity and inclusion in our school communities.
Community Building
We are a stronger community when we have stronger connections, among students, families, faculty and staff.
FORJ Franklin hosts 2-4 events per year that allow the community to come together in Newton and Boston, where our Franklin Falcon families live, work and play.

Student & Staff Support
Franklin teachers, staff and students have a long tradition of exercising empathy. FORJ supports FAME, Franklin's Affinity Mentoring Enrichment programming for Black, Latinx, and Asian American Pacific Islander students, run by Franklin teachers. We learn from teachers about curriculum connected to identity development and anti-racist ideas.
Education & Advocacy
Newton Public Schools has prioritized equity and inclusion and in 2020, introduced a Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The team has made great strides. FORJ is seeking employee life cycle data on hiring, retention, and promotion of staff of color in Newton Public Schools and welcome volunteers.
