Spring is here! We wanted to give you a summary of the events that we have planned for the month of April, along with some important dates. Please mark your calendars!
Monday, April 5 - First day of combined cohorts! There might be a fun surprise when you get to school in the morning...

Thursday, April 8 - 12:30pm early dismissal for conferences
Thursday, April 8 - Real Pets & Dream Pets of Franklin submissions due: https://franklinpto.wufoo.com/forms/pets. Send in photos of your real pets or dream pets, and we'll put them all together by grade level and a separate Franklin staff section in time for National Pet Day on April 11th! Wednesday, April 14 - FORJ AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islander) Solidarity Night from 7pm - 9pm followed by a FORJ Franklin-only Follow Up Conversation at 9pm. Register HERE to get the zoom link for the Newton FORJ event at 7pm. The 9pm FORJ Franklin-only discussion zoom link is: https://bentley.zoom.us/s/95905974027. There has been a significant rise in anti-Asian hate crimes since the pandemic began (over 3,800 officially reported within the last year), and news across the country of verbal harassment and violent attacks have been incredibly difficult to read on a daily basis. This event is not only for AAPI community members, but open to the entire Franklin community. We encourage you to learn more about this issue and to join the conversation. April 19-23 - No School (Spring Break)
Monday, April 26 - Franklin Flocking begins! Our wildly popular fundraiser from last fall is coming back, so get ready to think about whose lawn you want to flock with green flamingos! Details to come out soon.
Tuesday, April 27 - Picture Day Retakes. In-person retakes will be done in the morning during school hours. DLA retakes will be between 2:30pm - 3:00pm in front of the Franklin School, and DLA students/staff must sign up in advance here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080E4DADAC2AA5FA7-franklin5. Anyone who already received a photo package from their original photos taken in October 2020 must return their photos if they want to get a retake. If you didn't take a photo in October 2020, you can order photos online prior to retake day at https://www.coffeepond.com. A class composite photo will be created by using individual photos and combining them into one group photo, similar to yearbook photo pages. You do not need to order photos to be included in the class composite photo, and it would be wonderful to have pictures of all students so the Franklin class photos (both in-person and DLA) can be complete!

Our Pajama Storytime on March 25th was a hit and we had over 50 families in attendance! In PTO Board news, Claudia Rossi and Allison Brown have recently resigned, and we would like to thank them both for their dedication and contributions to the board.
