COAT DRIVE Begins Monday, November 8th!

Hello again from the Social Action Committee!

We are excited to announce our next drive, which will aim to collect winter coats, a much needed resource for many families. We are fortunate to continue our partnership with Anton's Cleaners by participating in their Coats for Kids drive which we will run from NOVEMBER 8th- DECEMBER 3rd.

Here’s some details directly from the Coats for Kids website:

"As one of the largest coat drives, we accept all winter coats – kids, adults and babies – that are warm winter coats in good, wearable condition. Please donate coats you would give a friend to wear. Do not donate coats that have rips/tears, broken zippers and/or permanent stains and please be sure to empty out all pockets."

Coats for Kids works with over 90 distribution partners comprised of social service

agencies, schools, and religious groups in Southern New Hampshire and Massachusetts that will take the cleaned coats and distribute them throughout the local communities where they see the most need.

Since we cannot collect coats at Franklin again this year, there are TWO OPTIONS for donations:

1. Leave the coat in the box on the front porch of Jackie’s house at 167 Cherry Street- we’re a few doors to the right when you’re facing the entrance to the teacher parking lot at Franklin.

Please donate only coats in the condition described above - no snowpants, hats, boots, etc.

2. You can also drop your coats directly to any Anton’s location. See here for details: https://www.antons.com/our-locations/

We know that folks are sometimes in the position to give, and at other times may be in need of assistance. Are you in need of winter gear? Please reach out to our Franklin Social Worker Daniela at mackinnond@newton.k12.ma.us at any time to get connected to resources.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to email Jackie at

Thank you as always for your generosity!
