Free lunches for all students K-2!

Updated: May 19, 2021

Hi Franklin families!

We hope you had a wonderful winter break, and happy new year!

K-2 families should have received the email from NPS below, but we just wanted to share the information again just in case.

Thanks!

Dear NPS Elementary K-2 Families,

We hope you had a restful and enjoyable winter break. As we return to school tomorrow with longer in-person days for K-2 hybrid students, we wanted to share information with you about the lunch program this year.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is funding free lunches for all students for the 2020-21 school year. This means that any student in the Newton Public Schools is eligible for free lunch (and free breakfast where available.) For our K-2 students who will now stay through lunch, students can simply ask for the meal on the menu for that day (see menu link here) and the meal will be given to them free of charge.

Students in the Distance Learning Academy, as well as any students not currently in school for lunch, can access free meals here:

Location: Newton North High School (theater entrance) and Newton South HIgh School

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday

We encourage you to take advantage of this free meal service in our schools.

Thank you and welcome back to school!

Sincerely,

Newton Public Schools Food Service
