Tomorrow's Franklin FORJ event - AAPI Solidarity Night on Wednesday, April 14th!

Updated: May 19, 2021

Dear Franklin community, Please join us and Newton Families Organizing for Racial Justice (FORJ) on Wednesday, April 14th from 7-9pm for FORJ Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Solidarity Night. We will host a Franklin-specific follow up at 9pm for those who want to connect after the citywide event.

There has been a significant rise in anti-Asian hate crimes since the pandemic began (over 3,800 officially reported within the last year), and news across the country of verbal harassment and violent attacks have been incredibly difficult to read on a daily basis. This event is not only for AAPI community members, but open to the entire Franklin community. We encourage you to learn more about this issue and to join the conversation. 4/14 - 7-9pm - FORJ Newton AAPI Solidarity Night Registration: http://bit.ly/FORJAAPIevent - please RSVP in advance to receive the zoom link! Join parents, students, teachers, and community members to support our Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community through an evening of learning and connection! You will learn about: - the historical and systemic roots of violence and discrimination against AAPI communities - how AAPI communities are suffering in terms of mental health and how to help - ways to support our young people, family members and friends during this difficult time. There will also be affinity spaces in breakout rooms for participants to connect with each other.
