Franklin Parent Forum: Reflection & Collective Action - Wednesday, June 9th, 7:30-9pm

Hi Franklin Families,

Please see the details below for this Wednesday's Franklin Parent Forum at 7:30pm!

Families Organizing for Racial Justice (FORJ) Franklin invites you Wednesday, 6/9 7:30-9pm to a forum designed to address the events of this spring at Franklin: a letter regarding the principal (https://bit.ly/3wZhIaM), listserv responses, and to provide a space to process it all in context. Experienced co-facilitators Carro Hua and Madeline McNeely will lead us on Zoom and have provided a description below. These two forums are geared towards processing what we have gone through as a community in the wake of the Franklin school principal departing. As we process collectively, in the first session, we will apply an intersectional and anti-racist understanding to the situation rooted in legacies of racialized violence and trauma. We hope that through collective reflection and commitment to change, we can model for our children and each other how to act in anti-racist ways. The second session (summer), is designed to support the community as we move forward and learn more deeply how to create an inclusive and caring ecosystem for leaders, teachers, staff, parents and children of color to thrive in predominantly white spaces at Franklin and throughout the Newton Public Schools.

First Session: Wednesday, June 9th from 7:30pm - 9:00pm
